It is said that the French varieties of scots/scotch pine are among the best for bonsai.  French Blue is very resistant to disease and insects.  It has the ability to grow very small needles and the foliage color is killer.  French Blue Scots Pine really takes well to bonsai.

This is in a Bonsai Shoes misprint pot.  One of the feet is missing, but it stays up.

USDA Zones 2-8

This specific tree is of the twisty type, developed by manual manipulation.  Options are plentiful and future selections will plot the course for this trees bright future.  It has lots of twists, lots of branches and lots of buds.  The majority of this trees life was spent in this pot.  No root work was done.  It still has some of the nursery plug soil around it's base/roots.
