The Bonsai Wire Condo - U1K - Aluminum & Copper Bonsai Wire Caddy

The U1K Wire Condo is an expandable modular bonsai wire caddy with many configurations and an ever evolving list of add-ons.  The condo utilizes modules that  consist of three slots, each slot holds a spool, each spool holds up to 1kg rolls of aluminum wire and/or Adams/McKinney, Russell Holder III, Bonsai By Fields or Natures Way copper Wire. 

We suggest starting with a double base.  The double base will hold up to six rolls of wire.  A double base is two, three slot modules (ad-on Modules) bolted together for a total of six possible rolls of wire.  The expandable spool cores fit most wire core openings of aluminum bonsai wire and will work on the above mentioned copper wire.  The spools are individually loaded so you don't need to take the entire caddy apart to reload wire.

More Details:
A single module will hold three 100g - 1kg rolls of wire.  Each spool is removable and can be loaded with a new roll of wire by simply twisting it apart.  Each spool has a pressure core that can fit many sizes of wire. The core can be compressed and wire slipped over.  The core will tighten (pushing outward) on the wire and hold it in place.  Once reloaded, the spool can be screwed back together (by hand) and seated back into it's base module. 

Each module can be bolted to the one next to it.  Our standard starter size is two modules together which we call a double base.  You can purchase add-on modules and connect together as many as you want to your specific needs. 

The wire should be loaded with the wire coming from the back over top the spool and through the back of the replaceable nozzle then emerging to the front.  

One of the key benefits of the U1K Wire Condo Bonsai Wire Caddy is the removable spools.  You can purchase extra spools separately and keep wire on them.  You can have 9 spools and swap out in a single add-on module if you wanted.  This will keep the cost down a bit and still give you full functionality.  If you don't want to constantly swap spools, just get enough modules to meet your wire needs. This will also allow you to purchase a single base module then add more as your budget allows.

If you purchase a double base and an add-on module, you can fill it with nearly a full set of aluminum (sizes 1-5).  Please note that this will be very heavy and not ideal to carry, especially with kilos.  This would still be ideal for a benchtop setup and can be moved when necessary.  This also requires assembly of the base unit to the add-on module.  It is too large to ship safely fully assembled.  Assembly will require a 3/32 hex bit with a 9"+ extension. This is ONLY required for the base unit/add-on module combination.  The standard base unit comes fully assembled. 

Our standard (Medium) spools each fit wire rolls with a core opening of 4" - 5.75".  These are our standard because they are ideal for the wire we sell and use.  This size works with many sizes of wire, but the next size down (Small 3.5"-5") core is also a very popular size for aluminum wire.  Check your wire core diameter prior to ordering your caddy.   Please add your requested core size to the notes field at checkout.

All spools for the U1Kl have a maximum width of 2 1/8".  We hope to have an XL version of this available in the near future for aluminum rolls up to 2 3/8".  Our B1K-XL can currently handle 2 3/8" rolls (including Stone Lantern kilos).

All spools and handles are black unless otherwise noted.

All Wire Condo's are custom manufactured to your specifications.  We are a small business located in Central Pennsylvania.  Wire Condo's will take at a minimum of one week to produce, assemble and get shipped.  Some model customization choices take up to 300 hours just to manufacturer.  Your wire caddy order will be placed in a que for manufacturing in the order in which they were received.  We have experienced back-ups during the spring bonsai rush up to six+ weeks in 2025.  We have taken steps to expand manufacturing capacities, but demand is constantly increasing.  If you are concerned on the timing, please contact us for a rough idea on when you may receive your order.
